Are you persistently re-experiencing distressing memories, frequent dreams or nightmares and panic attacks?
Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep and act or feel as if you are reliving the traumatic event over and over again, including a sense of fully reliving the experience through dissociative episodes (flashbacks)?
On-guard and tense all the time (hypervigilant), unable to relax, feeling fatigued, with an exaggerated startled response to sudden noises, the sight of reminiscent cues, or unexpected touch?
Do you feel depressed, detached or estranged from others and emotionally disconnected from the realities around you, suffering baffling chronic pain conditions that appear to have no obvious medical cause.
If you are feeling irritable, angry, anxious and overwhelmed, please call us on (01482) 226677. We offer a choice of male or female counsellors. Therapeutic support is also available if you are experiencing relationship difficulties or domestic violence.

The above symptoms are common reactions to trauma and over time can result in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Trauma is pain buried alive and these memories are not absorbed by our thinking brain, the way that ordinary memories are. More information about post-traumatic stress disorder can be found here.
